The Channel Islands Double Helix Flyer wins Outside Magazine’s gear of the year award for 2009! Born from the collaboration of designers and engineers from both Burton and Channel Islands, the Double Helix was born. This model is versatile in a wide range of waves and quickly became Channel Islands’ most popular model when it was first introduced in 1999.

21 May 09 at 12:58 pm #if its such a great board, how come not one ci team rider is using it to compete on? plus, for a new technology, they sure are heavy.
22 May 09 at 2:06 am #I hear ya Davis, no one on the CT yet. Some team have ridden off the rack helix in contests, I know Yadin won the HB trials event last year that got him into Trestles CT on a Helix, and Nate Tyler has won a few Volcom contests on them. Will get back to you with a list.
27 May 09 at 1:43 pm #Ya I dont think anyone is claiming end all change all in tech , but they do have a sick feel to them , like nothing else, especially in the pocket. I know Barca got a spread on his 5-10 in surfer mag . kamalei loves his proton at hanalei, and the g bros ride them at trestles , Yadin won the trials of the boost mobile at hb and rode his in France . kiron jabour has a 5-10 he says works great at ehukai when its all peaky and pockety . As well the norcal guys , Enz, nate tyler, walt cerny, D ray had a all helix final at the One way surf shop comp a few months back .. Keep you guys posted if more people start finding their unique flex and pop inviting!!!
27 May 09 at 3:12 pm #I’ve been looking at the pod, the biscuit, and the fishcuit, and I was wondering whith one would be good for me. I am 13 and I am 5′ 3″ and about 100 pounds, and I want something that will last me for a while. I live in Maine, and the waves are usually pretty wimpy. But I want a board that will be good on good days when it is over head. Can you help?
18 Jun 09 at 1:59 pm #Hey Sean
I like the Flyer 2 it’s an all around great board. I surf in England mostly so it’s good for slop but holds in well in bigger waves especially if you put bigger fins in. Has anyone tried the KSmall quad?
