Hola mi amigos,

This place continues to amaze me, as everyday brings more fun and adventure. We found a break up north of town that was an oil glass wedging beachbreak, with bowling ramp wedges and barrels without a drop of water out of place, and not a soul to be seen for miles, absolute bliss. But same as to the south, winds pick up by mid morning, and the sand point dreamworld lefts are the afternoon salvation everyday. My boards of choice for this trip are both Al Merrick shaped Channel Islands shortboards, one is a 5′11″ Round Tail Proton and the other is a 6′0″ Round Tail AME, both with the Lokbox Fin System which 101 Fin Co. utilizes for their incredible Bamboo Fins.

Kelly Slater on the cover of Waves MagazineThis board is a 5′6″ x 18 5/8″ x 2 5/16 concave deck (2 inch at center), double stringer, half moon tail 5 fin plugged, re-worked Flyer.

Behind the cover: This board started off as an experiment. Kelly took it down to Mainland, Mexico on a Quiksilver photo trip (all the cypher vision ad concepts you’ve seen lately), then placed second on it at the Pipeline Masters, and now it lands on the cover of Waves Magazine after a memorable session somewhere in Australia. This board has logged some serious miles and might make an appearance in the CI line in 2011… Would you be interested in giving this board a go?

Behind the cover: This board was stashed away in Kelly’s garage for a little over a year in Australia. Kelly decided to take it for a spin one day on the Gold Coast and ended up on the cover of Surfing Life.

Vote for Conner Coffin!

“nice job boys..Conner is an old soul with the energy of a kid and the ability of a super star. I’ve watched this 15 times and it stokes me each time.”
- Pat O’Connell

“Good backdrops and venues, good variety of repertoire, kid’s rail surfing makes him a standout and he gets some solid pits in Hawaii. Kind of a Dane clone, but that’s not really a bad thing.”
- Dave Prodan

Yeah Connor! This is the most complete section on here. I love seeing you on rail, but it’s good to see you in the air too. Some of those turns were mental. Psyched for you!

The Channel Islands LA Store customer appreciation night was a blast! One lucky kid even walked out of there with a signed Dane Reynolds board. With an awesome DJ and a live performance by Jonathan Swift and Rob Machado, the night was one for the memory books.
